Congratulations to the Texas Aggies!!!!!

Wow!  What a game!  Texas and Texas A&M …  The Longhorns were very lucky to come out of College Station with a win.  Texas did win 40-29.  It was a lot closer than the score.  They outplayed us for most of the game.  They have a really good team.

My thinking is…had they played with the passion they did today…played with the intent that they had today … played #15 earlier, we might have been the ones chasing them for the Big 12 South Championship.  Wow again.

All Aggie fans can be so proud of their team today.  They played with Aggie Pride, and I know there weren’t too many that thought they could play with Texas.  The stands were dotted with Burnt Orange.  It is kind of like the OU game in Dallas…very rarely would you see Burnt Orange in the Red section!  Likewise at A&M.  See, that is a game that would have made you smile if you hadn’t sold your tickets to the Longhorn Fan that sat in your seat !!!!

We have some friends in Beaumont, Texas that are B I G  (did you see that was written really   B  I  G  ?????)  Aggies.  I mean BIG! …I also got an email from him jokingly asking us not to beat his Aggies too badly.   I jokingly sent him a message that 56-14 was my prediction.  WAS I WRONG!  But, a victory is a victory.  We are 11-0.  Going for a record 12-0.  Then, perhaps 13?????

Congratulations to all Aggie fans from one BIG Longhorn fan.  I do recognize  talent when I see it, and your QB is a keeper.  Burnet is proud of him, I am sure.  The defense gave Texas’ offense all it wanted.  Somehow we found a way to win.

We have to look ahead, now, to the Big 12 Championship.  Probably Iowa State, as Colorado lost today to Nebraska.  What a conference!  What talent.  What fun!

Vince, you can come back and win the Heisman next year.    Perhaps all things happen for a reason!

Hook ‘em Horns.  And for Joe,  Gig ‘em Aggies!  (Just this once).

THANKS GIVING TO GREG

I just got off my Grandson Greg’s blog.  Bless the troops this Thanksgiving.  Think about what a young man, married, could be sharing with his family today.  There are many who will be eating a pretty good meal …  But nothing takes the place of being with people you love.  Or just being home.

Greg has grown up so much since he entered the Army after 9-11.  He has served in Kuwait, Iraq and twice in Qatar (“Cutter”). (That is where Tommy Franks used to hold his news conferences about the war on terror)  He has missed wedding anniversaries, Christmas, Thanksgiving and birthdays.   That in itself is a true sacrifice.

He has gotten married to a really wonderful woman since he left his home in Plano, Texas.  He is deciding his future, and has picked the medical field.  He will be studying down in San Antonio, when he returns from this deployment.  Isn’t that just wonderful that he and the Army came to an agreement on his assignment and his field?  I know he is happy.   www.gyoungii.blogspot.com

If anyone enters the service, be sure to pick what you really want, not what they want for you.  You will be happier, as is Greg, now.  YOU could save a lot of stress and fighting to pick the one you will be in for the duration, FIRST. (that is if you have any idea of what you want to do!!!)

Well, I wanted to write a little tribute to Greg today.  He is a big part of my blessings.  I have been so blest with so many things, and he is right up there at the top of my thanks.  Along with my children and my husband.  I am so proud of Greg.  Can you tell?

Today is Thanksgiving, and I hope who ever reads this will stop a minute and think of all we have, and all we will have…thanks to the service men and women of America.  Starting for me,  with my husband in WWII, and going through and beyond Greg.

Thanks Greg…Love you !!!!  Hooah!

TEXAS BASKETBALL

All this talk about football….I am forgetting to mention our men’s basketball team.  Wow!  They look pretty good.  I like that latter part of the game, when they seem to be getting stronger, as the other team seems to be tiring.  I think conditioning at Texas is the best.  Football, Baseball and Football are the sports we watch, and they are very well conditioned.  Thank goodness for that.  That will win a lot of games.

Our basketball team is 4-0, ranked #2 (as is the Football team) so, things are good in Austin, Texas.

We have a long season ahead, and as soon as we lose a game, the basketball ranking will go down.  It seems that people from “basketball” schools don’t think the University of Texas is for real.  Rick Barnes has made sure that is a myth.  Big 12 Basketball is good.  Oklahoma has a good team also…Kansas is a big name in basketball.  I don’t know how good they are right now, but we will find out soon enough.  Texas Tech is good, Oklahoma State has been good..so we have a tough conference to go through to be ranked at the end of the year.  Rankings are sort of silly, but it does give you something to talk about.

Hook ‘em Horns!  Smiling in Austin, Texas.

HOOK 'EM HORNS and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Sometimes I wonder what people who don’t like sports do all day????  Especially during football season.  I guess we watch more football than is healthy for your eyes, but there is something about this time of year that draws you to important games.

I was watching the SC - FS game last night, and here’s what I thought:

SC is going to lose
Fresno State is going to lose
Fresno State is going to beat the #1 team

SC held them off…whew.  That was close.  AND LATE, I watched it all!

I didn’t really want to play another team.  Texas should win in College Station on Friday, and the game against Big 12 North Champions (probably Colorado).  Then play a wonderful game January 4th to bring us a National Championship.  It is for the players and coaches…and even the fans…it is just something that has been willed to us this year.  I don’t know why, but since the Rose Bowl game last January, there has been a “feeling” about this team.  So far they haven’t been disappointing.  God love them, they are playing their hearts out.

So is Southern Cal.  They have a wonderful team, and after watching Reggie Bush last night I think he is probably one of the best athletes in the country.  BUT…

He didn’t show a lot of class under pressure.  Yes, he is only a kid…but he slapped the FS player’s helmet (they were trailing at the time) and cost his team 15 yards, when they were fighting to keep FS from scoring.

It is only a game, but I do think the Heisman needs to go to someone who is classy and also a good player.  Vince Young of Texas.  Yes, I am prejudiced, as I get to watch him every game …  Still in all, Vince Young is the best!

Up come the Aggies.  Their QB is injured and probably won’t be playing in the game.  I guess the team will rally around the new Quarterback…We will still win.  Probably big.

How does 56-14 sound?

Sounds good to me.   Hook ‘em Horns, and Happy Thanksgiving!

4 BEAUTIFUL F 18 JETS FLEW OVER DKR-TEXAS MEMORIAL STADIUM

We just got back from the Kansas Game…It was a blow out from the first quarter.  I think their Coach might have been trying to bolster their team when he came out after last year’s game and said the things he said.  (It’s all about the BCS, it’s all about money, we out played them… we are the better team)  Well,  that was last year.  Does 66-14 make a statement on whose the best team THIS YEAR????  I  am so happy our coach keeps comments about the other team complimentary.  You just cannot have class, and talk trash, as a Coach.

We are off until Friday after Thanksgiving.  We play the aTm, Fighting Texas Aggies.  They lost a heartbreaker to OU today.  We have got to play our best football to win, and keep our hopes alive for Pasadena….although…Alabama lost today, and SC and UT are the only undefeated teams now.  It is tough to go 11 games, and be undefeated.  We have to win 12 (with the Big 12 Championship game) .  13 to be National Champions.  I am hoping Texas plays like they know how, Vince has a great season, and wins the Heisman.

Vince Young is probably the very best player in the Nation this year.  I know he is the best player Texas has had.  We have had some good ones.  He is just so special.  I don’t usually go for autographs, but I am going to try to get something with his signature on it so we can put it in our football collection!

Well, heading to beach next week.  Perhaps to Louisiana.  I want to help their economy.  I really do.  ( well, playing slots helps their recovery, I know)

Until another thought hits me, just saying HOOK ‘EM HORNS and God Bless our Troops.  We had a flyover today.  Was a wonderful sight.  The ladies from Dripping were singing the National Anthem and 4 F 18 Jets came over the stadium.  Everyone was standing and erupted in very loud clapping and cheering.  It was awesome.  It was so patriotic. God Bless America.  God bless our President, George W. Bush.  God Bless you for reading this blog!

TEXAS CAPITAL

The other night, we went out and took pictures around the TEXAS CAPITAL. Here is a picture taken around 8:00 P. M. in Austin. I think this is a beautiful building, and being right here in Austin, I get to see it almost every day. I never pass by that I don't say "Thank you God, for Texas".Posted by Picasa

TOO GENEROUS!!!!

38-6 was, generous.  Texas won 62-0.  I did think we would win, but I am shocked that Baylor’s defense wasn’t any better than it was.  Maybe we ARE GOOD!  I think we are.

We went to Waco (about an hour and a half from Austin) and ate some good food, drank some bottled drinks (water) and went into the stadium about 25 minutes before the game started.  We had 2 seats and 4 seats.  About 15 minutes into the game, the 2 seats beside the 4 seats were empty, so we got our gang together for the remainder of the game.  It was a beautiful November day in Texas…and after we won, we hurried back to Austin so we could watch the VT Miami game.  We sure were happy when that game ended with Miami winning.

Texas should go to Rose Bowl now.  I hope we win the rest of our games, and go to California with a chip on our shoulders.  Hahaha    Actually, I just hope we win.

38-6

We leave for Waco in the morning, in time for an 11:30 game with Baylor University.  I hope we play like our A team tomorrow, as the Bears, are loaded with talent.  We should beat them by 4 or 5 touchdowns.  I am guessing 38-6.  We will see.  Hook ‘em Horns, and Beat the Bears!

Watch the VT Miami game….IF Miami can beat them, yeah!  If VT wins big…we may be 3 in the BCS.  And, that means, no Rose Bowl.

Hope we play well.
