A VERY HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

Brrrrrr  We are having our first cold here in Austin. It is 33˚ right now.  Thursday, it was in the high 70’s by this time!   I feel sorry for the people who are knee deep in snow, but when you have 83˚ one day, and 40˚ high the next…YOU FEEL IT!

Wonder if we will be in the 70’s next week?

The plants and trees are budding out, and seem to think it is April.  I hope these freezes don’t bother them too much.

We had the greatest Valentine’s day.  We went to Temple, to watch a play that our friend was in.  It was a great Valentine’s play.  Love Letters.  There were two people, a man and a woman, sitting at two desks about 5 feet apart…it starts when they are children.  They read the letter that they write to the other, and it is both funny and sad.  I loved the play as it shows that in life, family and good friends are the most important things.  Not money..certainly not a family that doesn’t care … The man character in the play was a very sweet, soft-spoken gentleman that came from a loving caring family.  The woman came from a rich, not so functional family.  She is a bit crude in her talk, sometimes, but deep down, a pretty nice person, with a lot of problems!   She makes the statement during one of her letters, how lucky he was to have his family.  It was very well done, and I was very impressed with our friend’s talent!  We went to Temple, not long ago to see him in Oklahoma!  That was wonderful, also.  We always sit with his wife, and that is the biggest treat!

Another friend, now living in Houston,  was there, also.  I had not seen her since 1959, so it was certainly a nice reunion with her, as well.   She is the sister of one the few girl friends I had in High School.  Younger, but now, a few years really doesn’t matter.  She has a daughter in Temple, and one in Austin.  We will probably be seeing more of her now!  Anyway,  I hope so.  We are all getting to the age that friends mean so much!  Especially our OLD life-long friends.

We went up on Valentine’s day and returned the next afternoon.  It was a great trip and a wonderful reunion with my old Midland High School friends.  My heart is happy, and I am still smiling.  What a great time, and what great people !!!

I think I might stay in all day, and email some of them!

Beautiful Days, Wonderful News!

Today is another beautiful Chamber of Commerce day in Austin, Texas. How lucky, since I hate winter weather..can't find one thing good about a cold and rainy day. I was praying that my birthday would have a nice day..well, maybe I should pray for something really worthwhile, as we have had about 40 days of Spring weather here in Central Texas.

I am particularly happy today, as I learned my Grandson, Greg is coming back from Qatar. I know he is about to pop with enthusiasm. Being away from your family is horrible..and he has been away more than home. I know Holly is VERY HAPPY that her husband will be home for awhile.

Greg is going to come to Texas in July. San Antonio, actually, to begin his studies. He wants to be a Medic. I think it is Brooks AFB, but don't hold me to that! We will just be an hour away from him, that will make us happy, too.

There will be some nice Christmas presents waiting for Gregory. I know of one that he will just LOVE. Holly has gotten some really neat things. I wish I could see his face.

We will get a visit in about 2 weeks..give or take a day or two. Can't wait to see them both!
