YESTERDAY....

Yesterday was San Jacinto day, here in Texas. I waited until today to write, as I wanted to be sure...NOTHING in the paper about it. Now, I think that is odd. One of the biggest days in Texas history, and nothing. Oh well..

We drove from the Beach to Austin yesterday. We had to go through Houston on I 10. You drive right by the Monument. It was fun to look over at the tall spiky monument on the day that all the fighting took place. Santa Anna's demise! Jay said he was there as a boy scout about 70 years ago. He was 14 years old, and remembers "acting out the battle"..Isn't that interesting???

Shame on our paper for not even knowing it was San Jacinto Day.

CASINO FUN AGAIN

This is funny..I was standing in front of a machine that takes the paper the slot machines give you with your winnings, and ready to place it in the slot to make dollars out of paper, and a sign hits you "IF YOU HAVE A GAMBLING PROBLEM, call 1 800 blah blah blah" Oh my gosh, isn't that a crazy place to put that sign? Not when you are cashing in a nice profit!

My sister-in-law and I headed to Louisiana Wednesday. We met in Columbus, and the husbands headed to the beach, and we headed for hell. I suppose gambling, done responsibly cannot be called hell..can it? We have so much fun. It just cannot be bad. We eat really good food, and get to sniff in other people's cigarette smoke for 2 days. No wonder I cannot breathe tonight. I have had an allergy thingy for about a week. Everyone else has it about 2 weeks..a cough and sniffles and starting with a sore throat. That's it..what I have!

We are at the beach now, and it is so peaceful here. There is hardly a sound. When there aren't a lot of people here, it is the best, most relaxing place in the world. Why people think they have to bring a dog, a motored bike, or take the muffler off their car for the beach, is beyond my comprehension. I love the quiet. NO loud music..or anything that comes with a lot of people. I guess I am getting old.

Well, we will head back to Austin tomorrow. I have really enjoyed my mini vacation. I guess I will have to get back to L'auBerge du lac soon, as it is gettin good golf weather. We visited all the casinos in Western part of La. Delta Downs, in Venton. That is a nice no tables, all slot casino. (Horse racing track, too) It was very quiet on a Wednesday. Thursday we went to Lake Charles and Isle of Capri and L'auBerge. What a nice week.

Tomorrow is San Jacinto Day, and we will be able to view the site as we drive by tomorrow.. April 21st is a great day in Texas.

Just listened and watched the Horns drop the first of 3 game series in Baseball..that isn't a good thing.

Tomorrow we will get them. (come on pitching) Good night, I am really tired ... yawn...

HAPPY EASTER

Just a note to wish everyone who reads this blog (two that I know of) a very special and meaningful Easter.

Today is a rainy day in Austin. Cold tomorrow, and of course, that is always (or most always) Easter weather in Austin. I love it. Never buy a spring outfit for Easter. Just pull out your woolies and enjoy the warmth.
