RAIN, NEW CAR AND BASEBALL

May has been a wet month here in Austin.  We have had winds up to 90 mph and hail.  Isn’t Spring fun in Texas?  We woke up Friday morning blocked by a large tree that had fallen across our driveway.  This is horrible, to lose a tree..but to have it hit the house and cause problems would have been much worse.  The saws were working overtime in Austin this weekend.  Many didn’t and still don’t have electicity.  I cannot imagine how horrible that must be.  Houses aren’t built for open window breezes anymore.  100 years ago people were acclimated to the heat and cold.  I remember no air conditioners in cars.  Since that dates me…let me just say, it was only 60 years ago or so… we have come a long way spoiling ourselves!!!!  I love my car warm/cool.  House, too.

We are in the midst of a baseball series with Kansas.  If we win today, we will sweep them, and perhaps be in the Big XII lead.  We had a rainout in Lubbock that is hurting our percentages.  Nebraska and Oklahoma haven’t played each other, and both lost in separate games yesterday to help the struggling Horns.  We sure make errors …

We are leaving for Crab Fest and Casinos on Wednesday.  Crab Fest is always around Mother’s Day, and this year is no exception.  We will probably do something fun on Sunday.

I have bought a new car, and it better be ready for that fun trip.  I sold my suburban, as I felt I needed something with a little less appetite for Gasoline.  This suburban is the best driving truck/car I have had..it is a 4 wheel drive and heavy.  The only problem..going to the beach and back cost about 150 dollars, and that is nearly the price of an airline ticket!  Well, I guess it would be hard to find a landing strip in Crystal Beach.

The car is the first since..um… early 1990’s.  I have had a Dodge Truck (Ram, the small one) then two Suburban trucks, and they were all RED.  I am buying one that I cannot tell what color it is.  I think it leans toward gray/silver..but is light, and will not show the dirt like the black or blue models they had.  I like black.  It is probably the sharpest looking car/truck..but..only for 10 minutes after washing.  I decided since the new one will go to the beach, I had better not try dark!

Here’s hoping the weather is nice on Wednesday.  I don’t like driving through Houston in pouring rain.  Good luck on that wish.
