IN FLANDERS FIELDS WHERE POPPIES BLOW

By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS, BIG 12 BASEBALL CHAMPS

We were very lucky this year. OU lost early so we didn't have to wait 4 games to find out if they would lose, and we would be able to claim the title. Baseball in Austin, for the Regional, and hopefully, Super Regional. We have to win the Regional first.

John and I went to Lake Charles last week, and had a wonderful time. Played golf on Tuesday. We sort of "cheated" sometimes, so we couldn't actually count our many strokes. I was shocked how well we both hit some of the shots, as we haven't played regularly in a long time. I will start soon, as we had a great time.

We gambled a bit, and for once, didn't have to write them a check! Don't know what happens sometimes...I like those type trips!

My cat missed me. I think Jay did too..LOL...I know he did. I sure missed them.

We play a doubleheader tomorrow here in Austin, then next week is the Big 12 tourney, then Regional Baseball.....
