BOSSIER CITY TO AUSTIN....

THE DRIVE FROM HELL. I decided to go back through Dallas. We had left on Tuesday, to visit family in Bossier City. (We thought since we were there we would also do a little gambling, it was just the right thing to do, staying at the HORSESHOE) But I digress.

We went to BC via Corsicana, Tyler, and in on I-20. Took us a little over 5 hours, and it was an uneventful trip. I got the idea if we went home I-20 to I-35, which was supposed to be a 5 hour and 30 min drive. Well.....I missed a sign (it said Ft. Worth) and took the Dallas sign..highway 80. I ended up in Mesquite, fooled around an hour finding 20 went East instead of West, fooled around another 20 minutes until we finally found I 35. By this time, we had gone 320 miles and it was a 3 hour and 45 minute trip. (should have been a little over 2 hours 30 minutes) Are you getting the reason for my being upset? We had 4 slow spots (from stopping to 10 mph, on each one) for over 15 minutes each, a wreck causing one..and highway work (down to 1 lane out of Dallas) Down to one lane around 50 miles further, and so on. I was still mad at my dumb mistake out of Dallas that took us to unknown parts of Texas...so, after all this, I got on the last leg of the trip, down Mo-Pac Blvd and ANOTHER slow trip from one end to the other. This was not a day to be out on the roads. The motorcycle riders are convening in Austin this weekend and we had half of them on I 35 and Mo-Pac either following me or leading me.

Now I wonder if I had retraced my steps from Bossier City to Tyler, and on down through Corsicana, if it would have been any slower? We'll never know, will we?

So much for trying to have an easy trip. This one took 7 hours and 35 minutes. 2 hours longer than normal. Luckily, I don't have to be anywhere for a while.

NO driving down long, twisted trails. Oh, and by the way, I did have a lucky slot. Tripple sevens, all colors, so it was not as much, But I loved it. Always fun to go to the money machine!
